Free Parking Near Yonge + Sheppard?

I only need a couple of hours, while running errands tomorrow morning. I don't mind buying a breakfast if it's a restaurant, or something to that effect.

Suggestions would be appreciated!

If you can get everything done within an hour, park at the Sheppard Centre. The first hour is free. Otherwise... all neighbourhood side streets in the area prohibit parking between standard business hours.
Deal with it.

Or you can park at Empress Walk (Yonge / Empress - aka North York Centre)... 2 hours free but you would need to make a purchase $10+ at Loblaws. =P

Why $10 or more? And how is that enforced?

If I can get validation, I wouldn't mind shopping at Sunrise Records or another retailer as well. Does anyone offer validation with a small purchase (Sunrise, Shoppers, etc)?

Probably needs to be 2-3 hours, unfortunately. What's the rate like after the first hour?

Need something a bit closer, but thanks!

Another possibility is to park at the 24 hr Metro lot on the SE corner of Yonge and Sheppard. It is free parking for at least an hour when they validate your parking stub for buying something there. You could call that Metro and verify how long you can get free parking.

if you really want FREE PARKING, then park on one of those side streets off of Willowdale and then walk to Yonge/Sheppard.

Is it a toll protected lot? I'm digging up the number to call now, thanks.

Considered it, seems risky...

You take a time stamp stub on your way in. And when you come out, there's a parking attendant to verify your Loblaws receipt and your parking stub.
They used to do a parking validation stamp on your stub at Loblaws, but recently (2-3 weeks ago?) they got more serious about the $10 minimum for <2 hours or $5+ for <30 mins...

PS: OP - read the signs if you're going to park on side streets / parking metres... the parking enforcement folks frequent the area a lot. lol

^ the 24 hours Metro is a possibility too...

A very sullen young man told me that the parking is free, there's no validation at all! I'll buy some groceries as a sign of good faith, but that's going to be my car's home for a couple of hours.

Thanks, everyone. :)

That's not correct. Parking is only free for the first 15 minutes OR have your parking ticket validated by Metro.

The closer you get to Yonge and Sheppard, the more likely they won't allow parking during the day.
Deal with it.

Good luck explaining that to the ticket booth guy who controls the exit gates.

Should have checked this thread in the morning before I went. Got mad, ended up parking at another plaza without a toll.
