Free roundtrip for 2 to Hawaii...TGTBT?

OK, here's the deal. About a week ago I did a phone survey for a company called Clean Air One...took about 5 min and they said I'd be entered into a contest for my time. Today they told me my name was drawn and I won 2 free round trip tickets to Hawaii! Yeah, right...what's the catch?

Well, they sent someone over to my house to drop off the voucher for the tickets and to give me a demo on some air purifiers (they told me this on the phone beforehand, so no big shock.) They said there was no obligation to buy anything and the tickets were ours no matter what. I still was a bit skeptical, but played along.

Guy comes to our house and basically tells us the deal with the voucher, what it's good for, what his company sells, etc and if we'd like a demo on their products. I said no and he stopped there. No pressure. Cool. He signed and gave me the voucher, told me he loved my condo, asked if there were any for sale, and left ( ). Here is a scan of the voucher -



Reminds me of timeshare presentation gimmicks, although they specifically said no timeshare sales were involved. They also list the company as Crystal Indoor Air on the voucher, but introduced themselves from, and Call ID said, Clean Air One. Weird? I dunno. I've found a little bit on them from googling, but nothing to sway me either way. They are registered with BBB and seem to be a legit company. What do you guys think?

That travel agency they're going through seems a bit fishy though.
They almost look like a "get rick quick" scheme - pay them $$, you get to be a "travel agent" and get commission.

Their booking interface is using Travelocity (affliate link).
IATA Records (http://www.checkacode.com/industry_c...umber=10517452) shows this company is based in Florida. Why would an air purifier company give away free tickets acquired from a company that utilizes commission-payed salespeople that is based in Forida? It just doesn't make sense.

you just got the tickets. make sure you needen't stay in a specific hotel for them to be good. Often you need to stay in a hotel that's about 1847K for a night

The fine print on the voucher states you have to book your accomodation through K&E and pay via K&E. I bet that's where the TGTBT ends.

No harm in following up by mailing it in.

Oh. right. I should mention I used to sell door-to-door. I can tell you that you didn't get much of 'real value' from a voucher left with you if you didn't taket the demo and didn't buy the product.

Well, it says mail 90 days before the date you want to leave but I need to plan ahead for leave longer than that. In any case, I'd like to research this a little more. If anyone knows or has dealt with K & E Travel, Class One Air or Crystal Indoor Products, please let me know and especially if you have ever used one of these vouchers.

Somehow I think the "book and pay for accomodations through K & E" might end up killing the deal, and although they have some reasonably priced hotels on their site, www.ketravel.com, I think they might not give you a choice of hotels...actually the Crystal Indoor air site mentions "5 star condos".

Can anyone crack the Agents Back Office link?

My first indication that this will not work: The fact that you can trade in a $2300 "value" for a $50.00 bracelet.

Well if you do end up coming to Hawaii, I am in the Honolulu area right now and it is AMAZING. The city is (I am told) like a combination between Toronto and Tokyo. The people are all very nice, the city is clean and there is tons of stuff to do.

So yeah, if you come, make sure you get a hotel either in the Waikiki area or the Ala Moana area, and you should be okay.

also did anyone notice how the minimum stay is 14 days in hawaii?? that can be rather expensive
besides most people can't take 14 days off work so i'msure they are betting on that too


so i'm sure the hotel stay will be expensive.. after all.. how much does airfare really cost to go to hawaii?

also, the cruise you can trade it in for requires you to fly down there i'm sure..
so the hotel deal is the only one you can probably get easily.. but a hotel deal can be worth as little as $150


also dont' be surprised if you have to pay taxes, airport fees and everything else for those airplane tickets..

I got one of these some time ago when my wife did an "anonymous" telephone survey about air quality. Surprise, surprise.... she won a prize!

Anyhow, after I was done telling the girl I didn't want to purchase an ugly-ass $3,500 de-ionizer, (which, incidently, we could have had for the low, low price of only $2,200), we got the voucher.

The Hawaii trip is not worth it. You need to book in their hotel. While it may not be terrible if you were already planning a trip there, it is certainly not worth dropping everything to run off to Hawaii simply because of some voucher.

The cruise and the hotel stay may be worth it though. I'd call and see how all-inclusive they are. Maybe they're just hoping you'll go boozing while on the cruise. There's probably a catch, but it's worth a call.

Be careful though. The address on that coupon is Norfinch Dr. That's right by Jane & Finch. Don't say the wrong thing or you may get shot.

Here in Toronto another company doing similar practice is Tristar Vacuum, they set you via survey of allergy or if by mistake you did call to claim your price to one of their bingo card....they will confirm with that one of their rep will be coming to deliver your price however before that you have to let demonstrate their expensive vacuum all in one cleaner $2799 which if you really wanted to get it you can visit ebay and some people are listing for as low $250 only.... so beware and tell your friends not buy from them.

THe Tristar vacuum is a real good product only the company who sells it that considerably unethical

Scam. The cheap "template" pamphlet should be a giveaway, something easy to mass mail. It doesn't even have your name on it..
