Also, is there anything special I need to do to switch between option 3 and 4? Say, if I want to change the VPS from a subdomain to a different standlone domain? Thanks.

Hi we do not allow clients to use our Free webhosting package as a VPN as for your second question you can simply add more domains to your account by using add on domains or simply make a new free account.

host a simple text/picture website. How do I start (with your service?)

Is there any catch with the 'free' service? Like ads, and/or limited functionalities, and/or speed/shared?

BTW, on one of the pic on your website (65% gauranteed) -- I believe the spelling is kinda wrong!

Hi, thanks Lucas for noticing the Spelling mistake we just got that taken care of by our designer, as for your situation our free web hosting package is more then enough to host text and pictures. As for the web hosting it self there are simply no catches obviously it won't have as much space or bandwidth as our paid solutions but it still has a lot of premium features. If you want to start simply go to the direct link in first page of this thread and set up your account just select the option the update the name servers your self, change the name servers on your godaddy account and your set!

If you still need some help to get started simply open a support ticket and I will be able to answer any inquiries you might have.

Hi thanks for the great comments, as for the the website building if you just want to build a basic website there is a Web site builder called "RVsitebuilder" that comes with all our hosting plan (its in your Cpanel), if you are interested in making a more advanced website Hosterbox has been recently including Premium Template Monster templates with all paid hosting plans http://hosterbox.com/freetemplates.html The list might not be very big at the moment but we have just started including them and we are constantly adding to the list. If you are interested in any of these I might be able to give it to you for free with out the need of a purchase, just pm me the one you like. Now those are solutions that will help get you started but ultimately you should try to learn how to edit and code them. Here is a really good website that should help you understand and learn how to create pages and build a website http://www.how-to-build-websites.com/

And if we use the paid service, can we choose which server we use for hosting, specifically, if I wanted to use a Canadian-based server instead of a USA server, or is there a minimum limit on how much we pay before that becomes optional?

Sorry if the offer was not clear I was offering one of our sub domains for free so if you did not have a domain adn wanted to try out our hosting we would let you add a prefix to our domain so for example you would be able to have a domain like domainname.hosterbox.net. If you register for our paid services you can register as many sub domains as you want! As for the location we usually only give it as an option if you buy our business plan or VPS or Dedicated server, we do this to make sure that we offer the most optimal services as our main location and most powerful servers are located in Dallas, Texas. (the servers in Canada are located in Toronto and Montreal).

Yes in fact if you do sign up for a 1 year term you will receive a Free .com domain which is an amazing offer considering that our basic package on a 1 year term is only 14,49$ and a regular domain name is 9,98$ which means your only paying 4,51$ for 1 year of web hosting!

And yes after your year is up at go daddy you can transfer it over too Hosterbox, a domain transfer usually costs 8,98$. You can also choose to stay at Godaddy and use our web hosting at the same time. As for owning a domain forever sadly that is not possible, if you want you can always register a domain for multiple years at a time but sadly that is the extent of it. (you will have to pay yearly fees)
