Info from the site is that you get 300 free mins/wk.
Any comments from actual users of this site? Is the 300 free mins/wk deal dead? Have they started to charge now?

I'll have to buy credits every few months in order to get the free min. Essentially, if you buy credits 'every few months' you'll be paying for the calls. I'd rather use skype or vbuzzer, since it would work out to be less costly. And I don't like how they deceptively advertize that I could get 300 min. every week, that's just not so with my experience. Guess they figure it's a good way to sucker people in. Hope I don't have a problem uninstalling it.

I use voipdiscount which is either a very similar or identical company, and average out to 200-350 minutes of calls to Italy, Greece, or England per week. Quality is definitely not as good as a normal phone, but for 10 euros every four months, the price can't be beat.

I've been using www.internetcalls.com for almost a year, the same company - different interface. You pay 10 euros every 120 days and it entitles you to "free" 300 min/week calls to "free" destinations. Depending where you are calling the quality varies (true for pretty much any VoIP long distance nowadays), but in general it is OK. There's a variety of ways how to make calls with them: You can use either your ATA adaptor (if you have one) for the calls, or make PC-Phone calls or use their website to place phone to phone calls by typing in your phone number, destination number and clicking "Dial". Your phone rings, you pick up, the other number gets dialed, they pick up, conversation begins... They charge 5 cents for a successful phone2phone connection, though...
Anyways, calling virtually without limits in US/Canada/Overseas for mere 10 euros in 4 months - I call it a HOT deal.

You can find ATA on different sites like Voxilla Canada (that's where I bought mine), VoIP Store Canada (www.canadianvoipstore.com) but beware it is shipped from the USA (well my ATA would have been), or even computer stores if you're looking at a linksys ATA (Directcanada has a very good price on the spa-3102 but PSTN quality sucks on this model just to let you know).

Sep 14th, 2006 10:37 AM #15unlimitel.ca provides me with a 519 DID. I get it a la carte, not in a bundle. This requires a bit more understanding of how VoIP works than makes sense for the average retail customer -- it is aimed at VARs and businesses, I think.
