freephoneline and text messaging?

I currently have freephoneline. Does anyone know of a way to receive free text messages with this? Or if not possible to work with a freephoneline number, then is there another way to get free text messaging?

I thought those were separate services requiring a different phone number.

Freephoneline is for landline phones. You can't text with a landline phone. Is he talking about Fongo on a cell phone?

FPL isn't a landline. It's VoIP.
You can certainly text via VoIP just not specifically with FPL.

OK, I agree. We're playing with terminology here. I too have Freephoneline and it runs using my landline phone which certainlly can't handle text messages.

FPL paid SIP accounts work on smartphones using any decent SIP app.
However, FPL doesn't support SMS.

Fongo Mobile does, but you have to pay if you want to send SMS (texts).
Receiving texts is free.

Come to think of it, you can text with landlines. It just uses TTS and speech to text to transcript.
It's actually kind of cool.

This is correct. I've texted my landline from my rogers cell phone before. There are fees to do so though. I forget which side charges

Send a text from a cellphone and a recording will call the landline. Not sure of the reverse is possible
