That old thread is way too long and I'm also curious if there are newer better stuff out the RFD'ers use daily. My list hasn't actually changed too much.
OS (Win7 Pro)
metapad (notepad replacement)
chrome (web browser)
freemake (video converter)
handbrake (video converter)
mediaplayer classic HC (media player)
VLC (media player)
7-zip (compression utility)
Filezilla (ftp client)
Youtube downloader (does what is does)
imgburn (dvd/cd burner)
cutepdf (pdf printer)
paint.net (imaging app)
rainmeter (cpu/drive info win7widget)
rainlendar (calendar desktop widget, on it's own)
security essentials (MS free AV)
Also constant use of Sticky Notes and Snipping Tool which are a part of Win7 which I find are very good applets/tools.
So what are yours?

No, you're not entitled to your own opinion, you're only entitled to what you can argue for.
Otherwise, don't start.

CueTools/CueRipper.
Exact Audio Copy should be retired. CueRipper is more efficient, and as secure.
