front-load washer

we never liked front-load washer, but hate 2-in-1 washer/dryer even more. we use individual units now. the builder threw in a 2-in-1 unit and the laundry/mechanic room is really small, so we cant take our 2 separate units with us.

i was wondering if there is a drain in the back on the front-load units? long time ago, ive seen a front-load washer stopped working and they (employee of a laundromat) had to open the door and let the water out onto the floor. if the washer stopped working and the water is still in the washer, what should you do? im thinking abt a front-load washer and front-load dryer that i can stack, but worried abt the above point.

I'm a little confused but if you are asking how front loaders drain, yes it's through a hose in the back normally. If you are talking about when a machine is clogged and won't drain at all, same as with a top loading machine you'd have to empty it manually (like with a scoop into a pail). I have no idea why someone would empty it onto the floor except if they had a good drain nearby and a floor that could take the water. Meanwhile I've never had any issue with my front loader not draining. It happened with an old top loader, but it's probably a rare problem with either type of machine.

most of the water in a front loader is soaked into the clothes, I've never seen a water line using a consumer front load washer. If I opened the door, I wouldn't expect water to be pouring out.

Repair guys have told us this too. It pumps in water, lets clothes soak it up, and makes sure there's only enough water in the machine to make a ball or something float (something like that - someone might know better). I've opened up ours many-a-time to add something I forgot and the only water that's come out is from off the door - which is nothing more than a dribble.
