I got front yard parking like 10 years ago
go to city hall and apply for it, draw out where is going to be
I paid like $300 something (can't remember)
then the city came and cut the curb down
but you still Have pay $109 + every year, to park in your front yard
same as the price you pay for a sticker to park on the street

I went through this process about 2 years ago. Read your attached link carefully as all that info is important. My suggestion is find out who the people are who will be reviewing your application and who will be doing the inspection. Call them. Introduce yourself. Find out if you even stand a chance of being approved. There may be no need to pay the non-refundable application fee as you may not meet all the requirements to have a pad installed. Believe me, the process is not easy or quick. Good luck.

I don't know if Toronto is like Calgary, but here some communities have designated no more front parking. There is no way, no how, the city will approve cutting a curb in those areas. You can often find out by calling your local community association and seeing what they can tell you as they may have folks there who know what rules apply in your area.

I called about my house before I bought it to find out if I could get the unlicensed pad out front 'legalized' - the guy looked up my address-to-be (okay, maybe the address of the guy down the street who doesn't actually have a front pad, no need to draw undue attention to my unlicensed pad :>) and he told to me to save my application fee as there was slim to no chance of getting it - most important, there were still on-street permits available for my street. Even if there hadn't been, he told me you have to get a survey of your property, architectural plans for the pad, there's a minimum amount of green space you have to keep, yadayada, 'its not like the old days when you could draw your application on a napkin'- bottom line, they really don't like approving front-pad parking anymore, esp. if there's any on-street or back-lane parking available.

We are located in High Park and we are fortunate enough to have 2 spots, but our neighbours who have been trying everything are told there is no way.

If they don't meet the requirements then there is nothing they can do. Is this a case of meeting the requirements but not being give a permit anyway?

I went through all the steps 2 years ago and got the permit. there were mansions on my street who did not meet the requirments that went ahead and put one in anyway. My neighbour called to complain and the city basically wouldn't do anything about it. Does that tell you something?

They were told it is not because their specific house didn't meet the requirement, no one ever came and looked. It is because the entire area/ward must maintain a certain amount of 'green space' and trees, etc... and that there will be no more permits given for front lawn parking in the area.
