this is why you should buy from a company that also installs. This would not be an issue. You cant expect a company who only charged for labor to warranty a product that they didn't supply for free.

Frontierair & Honeywell True Steam Humidifier
I recently purchased the 9 gallon version of the Honeywell Truesteam humidifier online from the aforementioned (Frontierair). $615.00
quick shipping - received the product within two days
Unit not working upon arrival, i.e never worked!
installed by HVAC company who installed my furnace
-I then contacted the company who suggested I call Honeywell to deal with any warranty issues.
-Honeywell, not helpful at all. Wants to deal with HVAC Tech only to troubleshoot.
-I now have to pay the original install company to comeback to my house to troubleshoot the problem with Honeywell. Then in turn if Honeywell decides to warranty the item, then install company returns the
unit for a fix or replace (not sure which one) Therefore I would have to wait the turn around time.
-the company that sold me the unit refused to take it back because I don't have the original box (Tech cleaned up after himself, threw out box)
-I'm now in abeyance
-Payed for a product that never worked (installed by a qualified HVAC Tech)
-company refuse to take product back (within the first 4 days of sending me the product)
-I have to pay additional money to have product troubleshoot then to wait for fix or replacement turnaround time.
How is this fair? thoughts on my options. I'm about to call VISA to see what they could do.Last edited by jixer; Feb 5th, 2012 at 09:58 AM. Reason: price of unit

Bririp, you misunderstand me. I do however agree with the first part of your comment, lesson learnt. I should've purchased this product from a company that installs. Suddenly $1200 for a lennox steam humidifier doesn't seem so bad. I don't expect the company that installed it to warranty the item.
This is my issue, I purchased a product from what may be a stretch to call a business. Now I purchased a product that never worked...period! I believe that the business that sold me the unit should be responsible for selling me a "working unit" and not the 'tail light' warranty that I got. I did not even ask for a refund, simply a working unit, for them to take the dud that I received and exchange it for another unit that hopefully works. I was indeed griping about paying the install company again to return to troubleshoot the unit when it never worked in the first place. I have no issue with the install. Remember, that it's the operation of the unit that is at the forefront here.
Tank does not fill, water line hooked up correctly. When you push the drain button, I imagine this should drain the tank right......well it fills it, really, it does! So I know that there is no issue with the water supply. Install had nothing to do with the rest of the unit, as someone else eluded to, it's a plug n play operation. Plug in power cord, install water supply and connect to controls to furnace.
....deep breath.....aaaand exhale. I'm truly being as objective as I can, though this is a subject view. For the rest of you out there, I guess this is more of a buyer beware for the business that sold me the product more than the actual product itself. Though I have since read of a few owners of the Honeywell Truesteam having issues with the unit and Honeywell being of no assistance to them. I do understand however, that all electronics have a 2% fail rate within the first 30 days. It just sucks when you fall into that percentage is all, and the 'business' leaves you out to dry.
