This is incredibly hot.

5650 is great for gaming and at this price the value is amazing.

Looks good, any opportunity for PM and BB points with these type of deals?

How is gateway in the brand heirarchy?

Kind of an odd mix ... decent video card but only paired with an i3, would have been killer with an i5 or i7.
Great price though.

It's the 2.4GHz I3, not a bad cpu. Low-end I5 would be only 200MHz more with turbo boost.
Anywaym will revisit, FS is having technical dificulties :)

I got this laptop at FS yesterday.

So far it's pretty impressive!

The i3 370m is only about 10% slower than an i5 according to benchmarks.

This laptop is a steal due to the ATI 5650 1GB.

I played COD: Black Ops at high settings and it was smooth as butter.

The screen is very nice, I didn't expect a budget laptop to have such a bright and clear screen.

Only complaint is the keyboard takes some getting used to. The keys are "floating" and flat, so it's hard to touch type, although I notice many new laptops use this setup.

Please, some pointers:
1. can you switch to the integrated graphics? (saves batt life)
2. is the keyboard bilingual or english?
3. how cheap does it feel at touch? I know, subjective opinion.

id get this if it had a expresscard slot or at least firewire.
but it has neither and i need one of em
ever wonder why its forbidden to see a girls breasts in a video game but its perfectly fine to mutilate and kill people?
that is the mentality of christians and other religious freaks - the morons that make our laws.

It is not switchable graphics. Keyboard is english. Feels a bit cheap, but bigger issue for me is getting used to the touchpad/keyboard.

Picked one up. Oshawa only had 4, so get it quick if you want it.

Perfect for the kids to play on.

Hard to find 4GB RAM, Intel i3, Good video card and 500GB HD for that price. HP had one close, but still had the intel video card.

I got this back in March for $629.

Positive things:
- price
- specs
- build quality is pretty good for its price
- hinge is holding up

Negative things:
- touchpad is horrible (use a mouse)
- keyboard is pretty bad too but usable
- viewing angle of screen sucks

So go check the laptop before you buy! It's a very good laptop if you can live with the negatives.

I was wondering about the screen.

I was at Canada Computers comparing the 17.3" Toshiba, Acer, Gateway. I noticed the Gateway screen was not as good as the Toshiba (#1) nor the Acer (#2) screen.

On the Gateway, I was definitely tilting the screen (angle) to see different parts of the screen better, depending on the colour/brightness of the area/graphic.

You'd get the key used in the system and use your own disc.
