[Best Buy] Alcatel Onetouch Pop Icon prepaid smartphone $109.99

Update Oct. 12/14
Best Buy's price is now $109.99 until Oct. 14/14

Update Oct. 10/14
On sale at Best Buy for a three day anniversary sale Oct. 10/14 - Oct. 12/14. Thanks again avpm!
http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/tel ... ageIndex=1

For a better deal, go to the London Drugs $79.99 Pop Icon thread posted by Carlo Pellegrino. Sale ends Oct. 15/14. Excellent deal for those who are lucky enough to price match at Future Shop or Best Buy. If FS/BB won't give you a cheaper price, give your business to London Drugs, if you can, to show your thanks/support for the great pricing.

Update: Sept. 26/14
On sale at Best Buy for $119.99 until Oct. 2/14. Future Shop price up to $127.99.

Update: Sept. 20/14
Back on sale, at the moment. (edit: 45ED)

Update: Sept. 5/14
Thanks to zentro for the price update. Now $119.99 at Future Shop and Best Buy. Sale ends Sept. 11/14.

Caution when opening the package:
The phone does not fit inside the tray where it would normally be located, so the phone has been placed beneath the tray. If you're not careful when opening the package, the phone may slip out, fall, and break. Open the package on a table, sofa, or a bed.

Since the phone has been stashed beneath the tray, some buyers thought the phone wasn't in the package. After paying for the phone, it may be a good idea to open the packaging in front of a Future Shop/Best Buy rep to ensure the phone is inside.

Here are some reports of the improper packaging mentioned here, here, here, and here.

Where to buy?

Best Buy link
London Drugs in-store link for $119.99
I've seen this being sold at Walmart for $128, so you can try price matching Future Shop.

Thanks to fizz1234 for mentioning this phone working on Wind and Mobilicity.

Protective cases for the phone

Alcatel released the Fierce 2, which is the US version of the Pop Icon phone. Two of the Fierce 2 cases below are compatible with the Pop Icon:

avpm bought this case with built-in stand from eBay seller stopandaccessorize:

Cableguy bought this case from eBay seller dz-tech:

Koodo is currently selling the phone for $150. Warm deal, since you're saving $20. No reviews available, but appears to be a customized version of the Alcatel Onetouch Pop C7.

Edit: One review found by avpm. Thanks!

Nice find this should work on Wind/Mobilicity once unlocked.

OP did you change the link for Alcatel site ? I am sure I saw them listing AWS as supported on this phone but not anymore.

Edit: NVM it was showing me US/generic site as I was on a US VPN. Shows AWS listed when going via Canadian IP.

Does it not list the 3G bands as 850/1900/AWS? AWS being 1700 & 2100?

Does anyone know what processor this has? Qualcomm or MediaTek? Or are the 2 pretty much comparable?

Stuck in a Box
My note 2 just broke. I need a replacement. the 5" seems to be great. Res sucks but I think it's high enough that it will not look bad.

I was going via work VPN [US] and it showed a different site. Checked from my phone and yes it does show AWS listed.

Also available at Best Buy for the same price if you don't want to wait for Telus to ship. Price ends Sept. 18th.

OOS online, but the Best Buy Mobile shops might have some stock in your area.

Edit: Saw the $129.99 Best Buy price at the time of this post before zentro's post about the updated price of $119.99.

If it is same as C7 than it is using MT6852M with only 512MB RAM. It is slower than Moto-g at the same price, but supports AWS.

Bestbuy site says "Stay connected throughout the day with the 1500 mAh battery" but then lists a 2000 mAh battery in specs? Which one is it? EDIT: Has 2000 mAh battery.

I think it only has 512 MB RAM? Compared to Moto G's 1GB. EDIT: Has 1GB RAM as well.

BTW FS/BB are listing it as $120 now. FS says still in stock online as of this post.
