[Bell] FS/BB: Bell Prepaid Samsung S275 (free unlock code in thread) $30 or $29 with PM

Update: On sale again this week at both BB and FS for $30

Early preview of flyer (old)

Futureshop will be having a sale on the Bell prepaid Samsung S275 for $30 (STARTING Friday July 12), price match at Best Buy for $27. FS link BB link

I bought this for my parents to use a couple weeks ago. Ported them over from Telus to Speakout since the rate is increasing from $0.30 to $0.50 per minute. Perfect time to sign up with the $100 deal for $125 in credit and a free sim card. See here

I paid for an unlock code on ebay and it turned out to be a generic, so I'm sharing that with you guys for free!

*Code removed

Brief review of phone:
Not many options to play with, couldn't customize the 2 buttons and the D-pad to open specific apps. Saw a couple reviews on it saying it has very poor standby life but I haven't charged it for almost a week and it's still going strong. Big physical buttons and phone+speakerphone is pretty loud. Great for anyone looking for a cheap prepaid phone with basic features especially paired with the Speakout deal.

Update: Best Buy price lowered to $40, PM only brings it down to $29 now.

Isn't this phone worse than the C414s that they have been blowing out recently (cheapest 19.99)?

1) For one thing this one doesn't support 3G. Only 2G Edge Data Speeds. [not completely sure. It says HSPA on 1st page but no 3G on Specs]
2) Secondly the camera is only 1.4mp vs 2mp.
3) No Expansion Slot
4) 1.77inch vs 2.2inch display

its funny because it says this at the bottom of the specs page:

Physically Identical Phone Models
Samsung C414; Samsung Rugby II

Not completely sure how much you can trust BestBuy's specs

Apparently it has access to Google Play (even though Proprietary OS)?! And Assisted GPS Navigation?! 7.2 Mbps Data Speeds?!

I'm getting 3G over here and camera isn't really important with those type of stats IMO. lol just checked out the C414 thread, looks like I wasted a few $ on the same unlock code :/

If it is being sold on Bell there is no way it's EDGE only. Has to be at least basic UMTS 3G.

Simply hilarious. Just imagine some one buying this phone to buy apps from the Google play store. :cheesygri

It is not just Best Buy that has made a total mess of the specifications of this phone. Rogers has this listed as having a 1.77 inch screen while Bell says it is 2.2 inch. Even the weight of the phone is different on the respective websites. Real mystery phone.

Thanks OP!

I can confirm that the unlock does work - I just bought it :)

On Rogers, I am getting 3G signal... plus it came with a fully charged battery!!

Is it a CDMA one or GSM one? Thanks!
This is a GSM phone, and after unlocking I am able to use Rogers and Chatr sim cards

I don't believe Bell/Telus still utilize their CDMA network for primary services...

Phone is confirmed 3G.....only downside is that the battery drains so quickly on this darn phone....lasts about 1day on standby with minimal talk....

I couldn't find a way to turn off 3G either....
