I believe it is. its not made by samsung, not sure whom its made by, sound quality is pretty decent though.

it says wav wma and mp3 supported, you can try asf I guess and hope it works , but that is what the manual says it supports.

Something else I found out is the record line in feature records to mp3 format automatically

if it didn't list out .asf as one of the format it supported, it probably can't play this format. i have lots of radio show in this format. so far i only found mpio, samsung and iriver that support this format.
