Very hot price for something with dedicated fax and copier, and can use high capacity black cart (56). Color and photo printing can be pretty expensive tho.

Costco had it on for $124.99 a couple of weeks ago, very popular.

HP cartridges are chipped and quite expensive. And no fax modem.

I don't think all HP cartridges are chipped are they? And wasn't HP sued for this practice?

FYI-Chipped means that the cartridge contains a 'smartchip' in it which
stops them from working even when they had ink left in them. (i.e. after a certain date etc. to force you to buy new cartridges).

no wonder my colour ink doesnt work after not using it for 2 years when the indicator says theres like 80% left in the tank

Actually, it's much more likely that the ink dried up (or at least the nozzle is clogged with dry ink).

Epson is the most common user of these chips. Their main purpose is to record the level of the ink, so even if you refill an empty one, the printer will still see it as being empty - thus forcing you to buy a new one.
