awesome chip,
make sure you have some experience soldering before you attempt this one. I had a guy bring me his fubar'd xbox after he tried to install one of these. What a mess

how hard is this to install? I am an electrical student and know soldering but my question is I have never taken apart an xbox so on a scale of 1 - 10 how hard is this install?
Let me know Definitely Interested!

the xbox in general is an easy system to mod, this chip uses the full lpc so it takes about a minute extra to do. However a lot of people say they know how to solder, and attempt to mod a system, only to have it done professionally in the end. So it really depends on what you've soldered in past, and how often you actually solder. On a scale of 1-10 , 3 for version 1.0-1.5, and 5 for version 1.6 (though ive never used the pcb rebuild, I just rebuild via wires). I am comparing this to soldering of a playstation 2 system though, where the install is much more complex. With the xbox, you can just solder the header pin, and you're done.

Well I am an electrical Technologist and I basically have solder training in high end electrical circuits so the soldering is the least of my worries...I solder high end components on a daily basis as needed...I have modded a first gen PS1 which was a breeze, but with the boards and the hard drive I was just curious how easy it was to remove and replace all components including the external switch that is included with this kit!

fairly easy, and the switch is also optional, but its just two screws to remove from the controller ports, take it out, slide the wire through it, and put the port back in place.

If you could mod a PS2 (all those wires oh my gosh!), modding the XBOX will be a breeze for you.
I have removed mods on the XBOX before, and I am no electronics major, but it was quite simple. I just used a solder pump to remove the solder.
The sticky part? A PCB inside the XBOX that can be double sided taped to a flat surface. I just used lighter fluid, came off as if it wasn't even sticky at all.
