FS - Sharp Plasmacluster Air Purifier FPA40CW $149.99
http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/produ...29b027f970en02
This looks like a good true HEPA purifier, that is quiet, and at a nice price. As someone living in a basement room, this is godsend.
This quote in particular seems relevant:
"I had been suffering from allergy-related sinus pressure for the past three years and I finally wake up with clear nasal passages and a clear head!" can't wait!

Would this be able to purify a two bedroom apartment?
What about a small 2-story townhouse (plus a basement)? Sorry, I don't know much about these but both my girlfriend and I are having breathing problems in our current apartment and might be moving into a townhouse.
Edit: Turns out it only covers 330 square feet? That's not very good at all.

After having some reservations the first couple of times that these were on sale, I ended up getting three over the course of the last few sales, and I have been very happy with them (there are a few older threads with some of the pros and cons on these). I'd prefer to get a new HEPA filter but those things are so ridiculously expensive it really can be cheaper to get a new purifier when they go on sale.

it covers 200 sq. ft. Price is warm and more sales should be around the corner as winter is coming to an end. I have smaller version with humidifier and it's good enough for a bedroom. Although many criticize built in humidifier we are extremely happy. Good thing, filters last about 2 yrs, but they cost a lot, sometimes more than an entry level air cleaner. Hope they will have sale for filters or some will figure out to manufacture a generic one for them.

i bought a sharp one with humidifier about 2 years ago, i just sold it on kijji for (i paid 225) $200. The reason being the filters cost more than the machine itself (mine had 3 filters) So im just gonna buy a new one down the road again. Its cheaper to buy a new machine than to replace the filters!!
Otherwise this machine does make a difference in the room that its in. I usually have it on beside my bed at night and helped my sinus problems slightly. Humidifier is good in the winter time...

Ahh what the heck... I grabbed one.
I'm a little worried they are going to start putting limiters on the ion-generation part. Their high end will basically stop generating after 28 months (sort of like a "smart" printer cartridge that automatically disables itself after a certain period of time) OT: I'm still using a many year old Samsung laser that is manually refillable with generic toner and has no limiter chip._______________

I have two FP-P40CXs from Sharp. I bought one at FS for $150 and one off Craigslist (LNIB) for $70. My apartment's living room is about 500 sf and it needs both of them to be effective. No more old apartment smell. It's awesome. I used to run them in separate rooms, but it really isn't effective for a large room beyond the listed rating.

Heaven Fresh NaturoPure Air Purifier HF 280?
Now that I am there looking around, even the regular $139 price its still interesting:
Heaven Fresh NaturoPure Air Purifier HF 280
These specs seem pretty good and it adds seemingly low ozone and a UV cleaner. And FS has filters for $22.
Anyone have firsthand experience with these?
