FS: Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme + 120mm fan $50
****** Item is sold ******
Hi Guys,
I just picked up on friday a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme and a Scythe 1600RPM 120mm fluid bearing fan but I wish to sell it for $50. It cost me about $75 after taxes.
I've gently lapped the base since these coolers are far from flat from the factory. I didnt go super crazy, just lapped it enough to make it as flat as possible without removing much material. I can probably take it down some more to get it 100% dead flat compared to the 95% it is now but its already so much better than it was when I got it. It is flat enough for me to put a drop of water on my CPU, touch the heatsink to it and pick it up (note that I lapped the CPU as well).
Anyway the reason I am selling it is not because of any cooling issues (infact it dropped my Q6600 full load temps fro 65C (using prime95 multicore) down to 57C with the cooling fan running at the slowest speed or 54C with it running faster. I'm more worried about such a huge heatsink attached to my motherboard. I know people use it but I dont trust it. Would rather have the higher heat than the nervous feeling... call me paranoid. I had it on a P5WDG2-WS motherboard in an Antec P180 case.
So ya, everything is in the box and even the thermal compound is all intact - I used my own. I have the receipts and things too. You can brng a ruler if you want to see how flat it is now
I"m located in Oshawa but work by the beaches for anyone interested in the cooler and fan.
