You don't need to insult Tiffany rings here. My ex gf once told me that Tiffany diamond ring is a dream of all girls'. Tiffany is highly overated. Drilled into young girl's heads. Been to the store, nothign special. I would rather get a diamond and gold/platnium ring from any trust worthy jewler as long as its' appraised and certified. The BLUE box means NOTHING.

Isn't that true for almost all products that are currently on the market?

The blue box may mean nothing to YOU but it may mean alot to other people. it is not all about the box, it is the entire package that Tiffany offers, from the initial contact, final sale toafter sale. They offer great customer service and quality products. The extra you're paying is called the premium.

i would appreciate people to stop thread crapping with their own opinion about Tiffanys. If I wanted to discuss or debate about the pros and cons of owning a Tiffany ring, I would post a thread in Off-topic. I am just trying to sell a ring so I could get some extra money for this year's christmas.

I am rather surprised about people's reaction/hatred towards Tiffanys or even my ring since I'm looking at the price and it is not even close to being over-priced. I called Tiffany early in the morning and for a similar ring, it will cost you around $2200-2300 right now.

To answer Bat1983's post, I totally disagree with what you wrote. Diamonds isn't like cars because diamonds appreciate every year even it's not brand new. Everyone knows if you are buying Tiffany, you are paying for the brand. Well, that's why every girl wants a Tiffany diamond ring in the bluebox because it's prestigious. I am sure he will just keep the ring if he doesn't sell it now. No point and no rush to sell the ring. LOL...Birks? That's the OLD fashion brand for older people. NOT FOR MY AGE anyways. Besides, no girls ever dream of Birks.

FYI: Tiffany Setting platinum wedding band sells for $485 but the yellow gold band sells for $330

But Birks has one advantage that you can sell your jewelery on Consignment for no extra costs.
I doubt it would work for Tiffany's jewelery as they mostly sell Brand name watches and antique jewelery and non branded more xepensive pieces.

Try selling your ring in the local paper that might work or on consignment somewhere else?

So out of all that, we atleast know that Tiffany diamonds are TOP notch.

YUP...this guy knows how good a Tiffany diamond is and how good of after sale service that Tiffany provides.

It costs my mom $50 every year to clean her diamond ring!!! She gets the ring polished once every 3 years, it costs her more than $100 to do that. So that's why I said $1400 for a diamond ring from Tiffany isn't bad at all since for the same thing is selling for $2200 to $2300 now at Tiffany.

Tiffany's will authenticate anything tiffany and provide a real appriasel for free. We had appriasels done on all our tiffany rings (4) we bought including the engagement ring which i purchased at tiffany in manhattan and had appraised at tiffany toronto for free. they even mailed me the leather bound appraisel for the engagement ring. even if there's a charge for having them appraise a diamond, thats money well spent.

Is it true that diamonds aren't any rarer then other precious stones but because 1 central company owns all the world's diamond mines they can charge whatever they want?

If you are talking about their WEDDING BANDS, yes Tiffany's does charge a difference... given that wedding bands are cheaper to begin with.

But when you get into their ENGAGEMENT rings, their price is equivalent (regardless of whether it's platinum or not).

In fact, Tiffany allows the buyer to buy the ring, and if the to-be-fiance refuses the ring, it's fully refundable. Furthermore, if she doesn't like the setting (you choose gold and she wants platinum), Tiffany's will replace the settting free of cost (given it's within a fairly reasonable time).

They also do free cleanings for life .
