FTP Hosting for the Paranoid
Ever since I dropped my portable HD while it was writing and lost all my travel pics I've been very paranoid about backing up. I not only back up to a new portable HD on a regular basis, I also burn to DVDs once every few months. And then getting really paranoid, I started thinking, what if my house burns down? If I have multiple copies, but they're all at home, that's not gonna do me any good. So I started keeping the DVDs at my in law's house...
But burning DVDs can be a pain. Wondering in this day and age if a secure FTP storage can be an option -- then I can schedule a job to scan and upload new pictures while I am at work or sleeping. Does anyone know if there is a cost effective option out there? I googled this a bit and most point to web hosting, which I would guess is not the most secure... wonder if there's pure FTP hosting?
MODs: Please delete this thread. Should have tried different ways to google before posting...

There are companies that provide just off-site back-up services. They usually bill by the GB stored and generally offer a number of ways to connect to their services, one of which is generally FTP, SFTP, FTPS. Just sayin'.

I use www.idrive.com. It's fairly good for the price ($50/yr for 150GB)

How much is your data worth to you?
There are a few pieces of software out there that schedule such things, just have the drive mapped in windows.
OR
If you have linux experience, you can do schedule rsync/sftp sessions with crontab. PM me if you have questions.
