Full Day Child Care and ECE Teacher
Ontario Premier just announced plans to implement the full day day care, how would that affect ECE teacher?
Here is some of my questions:
1) How will this get implemented? Do they simple relocate the day care center into school? If so, standalone day care center (not attached to a primary school) will probably die.
2) What will happen to day care not operated by school? How will the government re-allocate the ECE into the kindergarten from private day care? Do they simply do a mass hiring while having the private day care doing a mass layoff?
3) Teacher union already expressed their unwillingness to work with ECE since they are the "lesser" one. Does it mean they will try to simply push all the ECE away, or regulate them into non teacher job such as changing diaper?
4) Unless you get into some government sponsored day care, ECE starts at $12 an hour, which is quite low considered a call center rep starts around there as well. How will this affect their wage?
