Funny Story
First off, one of my biggest pet peeves while driving is all the ******* drivers who go onto merging lanes just to get 2-3 cars ahead when the traffic isn't going anywhere. You know who you are.
So I'm heading home from work last week and the route I take requires to go on this road that ends and merges with the main road. The road has a merging lane because it's right next to a condo complex where residents use to merge out. I always see cars go onto the merging lane pass by a few cars and force themselves back in.
Well the other day I was directly behind this white GMC Sierra van on this very road. The van was 4 cars behind where the merge lane ends and decides he wants to pass by the all the aforementioned cars. Everyone sees this and no one lets him in. As I'm approaching I go right up the bumper of the car in front of me so he can't get in, therefore, making his selfish move useless and producing a negative result. I saw my rear view mirror that the car behind me left a wide gap for him to come in. He could have just went in quietly, hopefully learning his lesson and never try to cut anyone off again, but yet he drives onto the shoulder next to my car and yells at me. LOL!
He said: "You couldn't give me that spot?!?! What's wrong with you!"
I said: "You had this spot but you left it. Oh well... bye!"LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked scan for this post.

Haha! Good for you!
It's amazing how some people drive; like it's their God-given right to be a$$holes!
I almost got sideswiped by this RS350 a few weeks ago because the idiot didn't check his mirrors or his blind spot before changing lanes. Of course, I honked at him. He was STARTLED, which obviously upset him. I mean, he's FLIPPING MAD...at me! So much so that he pulls behind me, and then over to the shoulder. He floors it and races beside me. As he passes, he waves gives me the middle finger salute while yelling something (couldn't hear; his window was closed!).
I ignore him, while my wife is howling with laughter at his rage...as are the drivers in the cars to my right....LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked bythehour for this post.

I never let someone like that in neither.... If everyone lines up like they should, the traffic would not be that bad.

I see people doing this all the time on highways. They come out of their lane, go into the merging lane and attempt to get ahead by a dozen cars or so.
Whenever I see someone doing this, I pull out of my lane and get into the merging lane and prevent them from going any further. Once a guy honked at me and I just simply honked back. Some people are really really annoying drivers.
Equally as annoying are the people that are entering the highway and drive right to the end of the merging lane and merge in there causing a bottle neck in the traffic even though there was plenty of space to merge in earlier. I always leave space for people in front of me to merge into the highway, but the majority simply drive right to the end of the merging lane and cause a bottle neck.
Some days I wish I was driving a car made purely out of heavy steel so that when people drive like morons, I just smash into them to teach them a lesson lol!! j/kLOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked Teletran for this post.

I have the same pet peeve.
But there are situations when I'm legitimately try to merge and the car beside me would accelerate to block me. I mean I can understand if I'm cutting you off or "jumping the line", but my lane is ending 'cus there's construction ahead, and we are going 5 km an hour. I'm half way in the lane already, so why block me off??LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked chickenbones for this post.

but if I understand you correctly that isn't the same. If you're merging onto the road then whoever doesn't let you in is the a-hole. If you on the road already, then drive out to the merging lane and come back in, just to pass a few cars, then you're the a-hole and it's actually a driving violation. The double lines on roads means you can't go on the lane, you can only get off it.

well as long as you're not going all the way to the very end of the road I'd let you in. But I never let in people when there are posted signs like 2kms away saying the lane is ending. If I can wait, you can wait. and I hate when people signal that they want in and assume right of way just cuz they're signalling.

You mean the freqency bars? Who told you that? If that were the case you'd never be able to get off the highway because exits where that lane "must exit" all have frequency bars as well.
Also where is the proof that it's "actually a driving violation"?
If the lane that is ending is on the right, then the person that is in the lane ending has the right of way unless they have a yield sign. Meaning of course that what you did was the violation (not yielding the right of way where required).
Not really a "funny" story. Though I don't condone people doing something stupid like that, right of way is right of way. If you're driving around some residential roads and you're going like 20 or there is a buildup of cars and someone in front of you takes some other streets, zooms around, and arrives at a multi-way stop sign before you, are you going to blow the stop sign to cut them off because you determined they were impatient/stupid?
I suppose that would be a real knee-slapper eh?
Again I don't condone such stupidness as going in a lane that you know is ending in 100m to get past a couple cars, but I also don't condone what you did either--it's pretty much just as stupid a move. How "funny" would you thought it have been had you got into an accident over this?
Judging by the guy's reaction you certainly didn't "teach him a lesson", and you're really not a "hero" either. Even if some people here agree with you what did you accomplish? You just pulled a silly and potentially dangerous illegal move, on purpose, to glorify it by posting it on RFD? Wow, good stuff!LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked ES_Revenge for this post.
