Gamers, have you ever had discoloration on your game DVDs?
Hey all.
I just noticed, sadly way after I threw out the receipt and can't return/exchange it anymore, that there is a distinct discoloration on my Blue Dragon DVD#2.
Have you ever had that (looks like someone spilled water on a third of the DVD data area). Looks like something between the disc layers.
This is the first time I've seen this on anything I've bought (DVD or game).
Is this normal? I've tried googling for stuff like this but couldn't find too many people complaining about it so I guess it's on the rare side.
I tried taking pics using my camera but the reflection ruins the shot.
I haven't gotten to disc 2 yet in the game so I can't really test it if it works until then. It does boot but obviously something may be wrong when it hits the second layer.
Thanks for any ideas. Microsoft wants to charge me $20 to exchange it, shipping to them also at my cost

I've never heard of this before, and I got tons of disc-based media over the years. The only time I've noticed a "spilled water" effect was when I tried to remove scratches on one of my music CDs using an alcohol cloth. (yeah, I was young and stupid)

I've never seen it with the DVDs I've bought before but just about every post I've seen from a person that did experience it also claim it's nothing to worry about. I'm crossing my fingers that's the case. I'd hate to spend another $20 on this just to finish the game.

Not sure, but I do know that Blue Dragon has a Halo 3: Collector's Edition style issue where the nub isn't made well so the discs become loose...

probably the die on the disk wasn't poured evenly so it looks bad, but if the data was written on properly than it should play just fine. i see it on cheap dvd-r pretty often and it the were burnt slowly then read fine.
