Games for kids & adults on Nintendo Switch

My husband & I used to play video games a lot, but haven't touched Xbox Kinect much after the kids (3 & 6).

I have been tempted to get Nintendo Switch, but the quality/graphics look disappointing in comparison to PS4; so, I'm looking for some game recommendations on PS4 for a 6 year old girl. I'd really like to start playing video games again in (albeit rare) spare time. Would be grateful for any recommendations (non-shooting/non-violent).

Thank you!

Overcooked 1 or 2 are fun and non violent, and can be played with friends and family together.
Honestly though, the Switch would have been a better choice for kids and adult light gaming. The graphics are weak in comparison but kids won't notice/care. But if you have the PS4 already, I think its safe to say anything kid-friendly you hear about on one console is probably available on all consoles, save Mario games.

Nintendo Switch has more good local multiplayer games that fit that criteria (non-shooting, non-violent).

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Super Smash Bros Ultimate (fighting game but mostly mild looking violence)
Super Mario Party
Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu Or Pokemon Let's Go Evee (Player 2 does not gain any progress, only Player 1 can save progress)
Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe
Super Mario Odyssey (somewhat, 2nd player can control the hat as an autonomous player)
Mario Tennis Aces
Kirby Star Allies
Captain Toad Treasure Tracker
Overcooked 1 and 2
Just Dance

Games that fit your criteria on PS4:

Overcooked 1 or 2
Little Big Planet 3
Pro Sports games
Just Dance ___

Pretty much all the Nintendo Switch exclusive local co-op games listed above are better than the Sony one, Little Big Planet 3.

What would be some recommended games on Nintendo Switch for adults?

Also, if I were to go with Nintendo Switch, would used EB games be a good place to start?

This thread mentions the Switch on sale at Wal-Mart right now, best price atm

$329

I like Overcooked. If theres a game where you almost want to murder someone in your family because they made and served the wrong &#$@ing soup, this is for you Smiling Face With Open Mouth And Smiling Eyes

As far as other adult games, depends what you're into, give more details about your interests and previous experiences. Do you like sports (FIFA), twitchy action (Bayonetta), or what?

PS4 has Spyro Trilogy which looks very kid-friendly - though rating does say age 10+. Can be found for about $50. Maybe Dragon Quest? I haven't played either of these games however.

Thank you all!

What would be a good first or second starter game for adults? Wasn't impressed with Super Smash Bros. Thinking of Zelda, but haven't made up my mind.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

I would recommend checking out some gameplay and review videos before picking up games because people's tastes may vary.

I think Diablo 3 on the Switch would be a good adult game in your situation. It's easy to get into, the gameplay is addicting and satisfying and you can stop playing for weeks/months and easily come back into it.

Unfortunately, the Switch lacks narrative driven adult-oriented games like the PS4. But I hope that changes in coming years.
