The Gaming Gifs Thread

Hey guys I've noticed gaming gifs being pretty popular on other sites so I figured why not make a thread to share sweet cool looking gifs we find online and original content here as well.

"But ReeGee, we already have a next-gen screenshot thread. What's the point of a different thread?"
1. A gif is not a screenshot
2. Content here won't auto load and fill up your screen just by opening the thread. You can choose what games you do or don't want to see.
3. Posting gifs of older games is welcome and this is not just for "next gen" games. Gifs of older games can be awesome too!
4. Gaming gifs look cool as hell, especially at 60fps, and they give you a much better sense of what a game actually looks like

Here are some examples

Star Wars Battlefront http://gfycat.com/BlissfulShimmeringCub

GTA V http://gfycat.com/QuickEveryFowl

MGS V (NSFW) http://gfycat.com/PleasingClassicCow

Super Mario Galaxy http://www.gfycat.com/QuickImpressiveDikkops

Want to make and post a cool 60fps gif yourself? Thankfully it's really simple. All you need to do is record your gameplay from your PC or console, cut the video to 15 seconds, upload the video to http://gfycat.com/ and then post the link it gives you here.
Feel free to host your gifs elsewhere, I just recommend gfycat as it's the only one that will do 60fps like the ones I linked above.

Two quick "rules" to hopefully help keep this thread clean and easy to browse

Please don't post by embedding gifs in this thread. Imagine how annoying that would look. Please just post the game title and the link to the gif as I did in the above examples.

This thread is for cool short quick to consume gifs. Please don't post full length videos here. If you want to see and post full length videos, there's tons of that stuff on YouTube.

Happy Giffing!

The problem with gifs involves a terrible lack of compression and large file sizes that do not match their quality.

Because of that, video, youtube, vines, and webms, have made gifs obsolete.

That's only a problem if you use an ancient format or bad conversion tools. GFYcat compression is great and makes for awesome looking quick to digest 60fps clips like the ones I posted. Anyways, not really interested in discussing technicalities. This thread is just for sharing cool gif content

What I meant is that those 10-15 mb gifs that are 3-4 seconds long would only be 3-4mb videos and would have sound instead as a youtube, vine or webm file as opposed to a gif.

so you first record a video then use the tool to convert into a gfy? why not just leave it as video and host on youtube?

because sometimes ppl don't have time or care to sit through or skim a full length video for 5-10 seconds of something cool in between minutes of nothing interesting. The point of this is to share cool moments and scenes from games in a quick and simple way. I hope that makes sense.

Well, for the purpose of this thread, I think ReeGee has somewhat implied the sameness of gif and webm. He recommended using gfycat, which uses webm anyway. Gfycat also includes gif version for those who can't display webm too. So while you are correct in that gif is indeed huge and obsolete, it's not an issue if you use gfycat as ReeGee has recommended.

But if I were to be completely picky, I actually hate youtube's butchering of quality when it comes to 4k videos (and 1080p in some cases).

I actually don't mind youtube's quality but that and this are for a completely different purpose. I want this to be for sharing straight the point "money shot" game moments (like the BF4 gif I just posted) instead of having to load a youtube video, potentially watch an ad, and sit through a lengthy video waiting for the cool part.

LOL you're ruthless man. BTW you should try Gunslinger if you haven't already. It was a surprisingly fun game.

Lol I think I played it but I can't remember much about it.

I have some more "ruthless" clips but some of them are kinda graphic (fallout 3 exploding headshots and the like)
