I'm headed overseas, I can't bring my beast of a desktop with me but still want to run Diablo 3. Are there any gaming laptops out there for $1000 that can run Diablo 3?

There are $500+ laptops (HP DV6-6C51CA that was on sale for $498 recently at Staples) that can run D3. Not sure if they are running in med or high...it's 7690M graphics may be somewhat crippled.
http://forums.redflagdeals.com/stapl...498-a-1177004/
This $580 HP DV6-6C40CA is similar to the above, but has an AMD quadcore A8-3520M...graphics type is uncertain since it varies by source...even at the HP website:

http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/ca/en...532.html?dnr=1
This $549 15.6 inch Asus K53TK-SS61-CBIL with an AMD quadcore A6-3420M and HD 7670G graphics should do D3 in high (see Notebookcheck.net for 7670G)
http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/ca...affixedcode=WW
This $799 Asus A53SV-EH71 has an i7 and 540M graphics (similar to 7670G in performance)

Lenovo Ideapad Y-series...with GT 555M or better is also available in the $700+ range:

It appears that there may be issues between D3 and GT 540M:

Here's an interesting read on D3 and various laptop graphics:

Any laptop with integrated graphics (Intel HD4000) or higher will run Diablo 3 smoothly on medium graphics.

Are there many laptops with the Intel HD 4000 out there?
I bought my laptop a year ago...it has an Intel HD 3000....15-20 fps at low under D3 based on that Anandtech article in my previous post.
Since D3 isn't that hard on graphics, get a laptop that has the fastest graphics at or below your budget price of $1000. This way will future proof your laptop as much as possible.

If you don't waiting, you can buy a 15.6 inch Lenovo Ideapad Y580 with an i7-3610QM and GTX 660M graphics in the $8xx price range....website gives price starting at $849. EPP thread may get you a better price. If Lenovo has to build when you order, then you may have to wait....it took them several weeks to build my Lenovo Thinkpad Edge laptop last summer (shipped from China to GTA to BC).

It was about 3+ weeks or so from the time of the order. Delivery times vary depending on inventory, etc....probably took a week from GTA to BC. Call them to see what the expected times are for the model in question. Some of the laptop graphics from Lenovo have been reported to be somewhat crippled too.
