Garage door frame wood rotten
Over the winter, there would be melt puddle of water at the garage door. Some paints were chipped on the door frame at the bottom where it meets the ground. I can now see some rotting wood exposed after a few years. What is the long term solution here? Should I just repaint it and call it a day? Or is there anything I should use to cover off the bottom part of the wooden garage door frame?

There is really nothing you can do once it starts rotting other than cut the rot off and try to protect it with paint. Better to replace the whole beam that is rotting. Before you repair it though you should address the cause of the problem first (the standing water) by looking at why the water is pooling there.

The closed door and raised driveway in winter made the water pool right under the garage door as the snow melt in winter. I heard about some synthetic wood like material that one can use to replace the bottom of garage door frame where it's normally to be wet in the winter. Anyone used them or know where to get them?

How about those aluminum garage door frame? Is it just a cover over the wood or it's a replacement of the wooden frame?
