Did you miss out on the $14,000 that's why you call it a handout?
No, I cancelled my reservation on the model 3 and bought another SUV.

Wow, must have a lot of money to burn? Dumbest thing I've read all day (unless it was a Model X, in which case the value proposition still isn't there).

Stop buying gas by going electric and you'll save a lot of money. In my case $5000+ per year. <- best advice anyone will ever give you. Gasoline is there for suckers with money to blow.
If you drive 10,000km per year, you're not going to save much, but if you drive 20,000km+ per year, you'd be silly not to even bother investigating the many advantages EVs offer. $1.30/100km if I charge at home, $0 at free public chargers. Haven't bought gas in 5 years now and have driven about 200,000km electric.

I used to screw around with the 10% discounted Canadian Tire gift cards or ones purchased at the gas bar with a cash back credit card and combine with multiplier coupons. Happens several times a year, so I'd stock up.

Gas is cheap... I fill up at Costco.
For the price of one Model X, we got two SUVs.
We tried waiting for the Model 3, but $60K got us a luxury SUV.

Superstore gas w/PC MasterCard
+1. 7c/L back + 3%. Winnipeg I think it's 9c/L. Cheaper than Costco and no lineups.

Gasoline is still dirt cheap, I wish for it to be more expensive, that means less gigantic stinky SUVs and pickups on the road.
And I don't care if groceries will be more expensive at least air will be cleaner.

Doesn't matter where you live... You car can be full with a 200 km range every single morning when you leave home!
I only needed to charge my car once on a public charging station in my last 10000 km.
This pattern fits 95% of the people on RFD.

Easily a bunch of lies and the dumbest thing I've read today. OP asks about saving a few dollars on gas and your advice is to drop $40,000 to save $2500/year on gas? Where do I sign up? No wonder EV market share is....1%. If you can't remain objective just stick to the circle jerk EV threads.

I guess math is hard for you. $2500 over 10 years isn't chump change and you get a superior vehicle.

I cancelled my reservation for model 3, just not worth it. Gonna wait for new EVs to come out. In the meantime, gonna try and get a Civic type r for fun car to replace my s2000.

Why would you get rid of a great car like an S2000 for a fat Civic? Need extra seats?

I personally think the s2000 is overrated and isn't as enjoyable as everyone says it is. When I test drove a CTR I actually quite like it and IMO more enjoyable to drive. I know it's not popular opinion but that's how I feel about it.
