[********] Doogee Y100 PRO 5.0" QuadCore 1.3GHz Android 5.1 - $105 USD (after coupon)

Dare I say... MOTO G KILLER? ... this phone rivals/beats Moto G 2nd Gen, its the same pricepoint but with Corning Glass 2.5D Curved Screen, 13MP Sony image sensor, 2GB RAM, 2200 MAH Battery, apparent super fast charging (0-70% in 30min), AND LTE 4G. I'd say its a strong contender at this pricepoint. Apparently the shell is polycarbonate but has a thin powder metal finish.
Found coupon code on google (http://thecouponscoop.com/popup/c1188830) for $15 OFF (ICPNGB) brings price down to $104.99
It looks really nice, but the lack of WCDMA 850 MHz is a letdown. 850 has better reception than 1900.

That, and probably the small battery are the 2 most glaring omissions. Man, these phones are coming fast and furious from China. Once they work out the QC, and produce more models compatible with North American frequencies, the incumbents should have a legitimate reason to worry.

Granted the advertised battery capacity is lacking at 2200mah, it still beats the Moto G battery (2030mAH) & with most other specs. Moto G has quite widespread acceptance so it's ok for an entry level phone, it's definitely not a flagship by any means. The supposed rapid charging (0 - 70% in 30min) should offset the smaller battery capacity.

I have ordered a unit. Ill post an unboxing and full review once I receive it.

Too good to be true.

I bet that there will be no updates after release.

Why this deluge of Chinese phone threads in 2015?

They called 1280 x 720 (HD 720) resolution "1280P". How do you even trust these guys?

I will expect everything else on this spec sheet equally questionable.

Do you guys seriously want to buy an oddly named Chinese phone? I wonder if anyone in China would even buy it.

Given there are more established brands from China; at least the build quality is predictable.

I can't comment on this model, but my parents have the DG310 model (got that because it DOES include the 850 band) and they are just fine.

"Xiaomi", "Meizu", "Oppo", and "ZTE" aren't any less oddly named than "Doogee".

The quality of these no-name phones is actually surprisingly good for the price. It really gives you a perspective on how much margin the incumbents are making by selling phones for $500+. These random Chinese phones aren't much worse than Oneplus One, and that was deemed an amazing value at $300 USD. Oneplus is just another random Chinese brand that just happened to run a successful viral marketing campaign in the western world.

OP, edit your post. By using the coupon code GBaff you can get a $10 rebate too.

I decided to order it as well, it looks really cool and I wanted a phone I would use only for vacations. This looks perfect. I thought of starting this thread myself but you beat me to it.

Battery life should still be OK, due to the lower resolution screen. For most uses I think 720p on a 5 inch screen is fine. Cramming tons of pixels on a super tiny screen is of questionable value, honestly.

Indeed, it is delightful to see them giving the incumbents a serious run for their money. I want to see them bleed.

It's unreleased at the moment so there's no way to know for sure. They state however that it has a Sony image sensor so it should be decent, and not that omnivision crap.

I got a Mlais M7 phone recently and it also has a Sony image sensor, turned out to be really decent. Search for it in the forums, I have a video review with picture samples in it.

Again we won't know until released, and it isn't beyond chinese phone makers to overinflate specs or straight out lie.

Just wait I guess

"Xiaomi", "Meizu", "Huawei" follow a GB standard(China's counter part of ISO) to translate Chinese corporate name to English.
"ZTE" is an established company listed on both Hongkong & China stock exchange.

"Oppo" could be found in every electronics store in China.

"Doogee" and a couple others doesn't make sense in both English & Chinese. And I have never heard anyone from China uses them.

I have. I was in HK and China a few years back, and on the street, I always heard people saying things about "doogee style". :cheesygri
