Which one on Aliexpress is guaranteed to contain band 4? Just anything with "global version"? I don't trust product descriptions much.

@Ebeniz, from where and how long is the estimated shipping time? I want to get the phone but will have to get it from Canada Computers if these still take 1+ month to ship from China/Hong Kong. Is the DHL option way faster?

They say 2 weeks or less. We'll see. But with the big sale tomorrow it will probably be longer because of processing. All in with a case and screen protector I'm paying about $340. Canada computers would have been $395 + case and screen protector.

I got it from here on the advice of others on here.
it's $210 right now... Paid $315.12 CDN including DHL, case and screen protector. All I'm left to pay is import fees of about $24

Is there much difference between these different vendors on AE? The official Xiaomi store has them for slightly higher from what I can see but I wonder if there's a difference in customer service (say the phone had issues or w/e).

Check their shipping. I think they were charging more for DHL when I looked a week ago.

True enough...however they both also offer free shipping...and my guess is that is unregistered mail which is exempted from border duty. The only con is it takes a few weeks to arrive. But you have a 60 day guarantee or money back from AliExpress for shipping.

I order quite a few electronics from such websites and always choose unregistered mail so that it avoids border duty.

That's fair. I'm just impatient. I ordered some glasses from China back on Oct 19 and they just hit Canada today. Probably still a week until they make it to PEI from BC.

I wish I had picked the one with the case/screen protector. I was kicking myself afterwards. I'm likely going to grab something from amazon now that offers prime shipping just so I can get one quickly. The only reason I was hesitant at first was I couldn't find a good picture of what the case/protector looked like.

edit: Just picked up https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B075NJ ... V4KB&psc=1 since it was both case + glass protector for $15 and prime shipping.

I ordered a case for this phone on Oct 25 from Ali. Tracking says it's been on a plane from China since Oct 29... I can only assume it's out of fuel by now. Grinning Face With Smiling Eyes I'm hoping I'll get the case by Xmas.

Last year was particularly bad for these free shipping parcels. Many items I ordered in Sept/Oct 2016, I recieved them in Jan/Feb 2017, even though it showed that they all landed in Richmond (BC) by November. I think they just sat there for months.

Not guaranteed. Only items <C$20 are official exempt of tax. Something >C$20 sent by post office might be more likely to slide through, and the post office charges less for the paperwork than DHL, but you can't count on it arriving with no tax just because it went by mail.

Has anyone actually had to pay tax on a phone declared a $45 "MP3 Player" that came by registered (Asendia) or unregistered mail, though? Seems like a 1% chance.
