Getting Deals on USA Delta Flights

Hello,

We have a family (2 adults 3 kids) trip booked to Denver, Colorado in Aug of 2019 for a week. I haven't booked the flights yet but I am heavily tracking them. Considering driving to Detroit and flying out of DTW. YYZ (Toronto) is our nearest major airport but Detroit saves about $100 per person. Delta seems to be the cheapest and best flight times, both from YYZ and DTW. Anyone know any tricks to get deals on Delta flights? Is it worth driving to DTW? Buffalo is cheaper then YYZ but only about 20$ pp.

Thanks

You're likely looking at up to $100 in fuel and tolls, plus 8 hours of your time, to drive to-and-from Detroit. Is the convenience of flying out of Pearson worth $400 for the five of you, versus the alternative?

You have a point, however Toronto is still 45mins away. Also, the cheaper comparable flights from YYZ leave at 6:30am from Toronto and 7:30am from Denver. We would have to pay for an extra hotel room on the Denver side as our Airbnb is 2hours from the Denver airport. So the extra inconvenience of the super early flight times are worth something too.
