Go green and save money on shipping and packaging, reuse bubble envelopes etc.
1st post in this forum I am sorry if this is stupid
here's a few tips for occasional sellers on how to save money and the environment when shipping stuffs.
- bubble envelopes are not recyclable, try to reuse them for packaging/shipping, rip off the original shipping label first if security is a concern
- get carton boxes from grocery stores, they have variety of sizes and free
- reuse the packing peanuts you receive from Tigerdirect, they are not recycable
- Use paper envelopes and paper packaging (like NCIX) whenever possible, in oppose of using packing peanuts and bubble envelopes, if you feel that your buyers don't mind, you can use newspapers too
- Try to keep all the original packaging on the stuffs you purchase, they will come in handy if you ever need to resell those items later (especially monitors, printers, scanners)
- Print shipping labels with laser printers instead of thermal printers, this is slower (to tape the label), but you will save money and environment as thermal labels are not recycable and expensive to refill. To save even more, use used papers (1 side empty), with no important info on it of course.
- thermal labels from boxes are hard to remove sometimes, use a heat gun or hair dryer to heat up corner for few seconds, then start peeling with heat applied, after you peel them off, you can reuse the boxes
