Goin' to the states on business - should I buy tires
My winter daily driver is an Accord... just winterizing the Mustang in case I need it. Otherwise, it stays parked. In that vein I want to get some tires for it.
I'm going to the states from Oct. 27 - Nov. 3 and just wonering - my Mustang needs a set of winter tires. I checked out some canadian sites and it's a lot more expensive than in the US.
Has anyone here done the "order and drive down to the US" thing before for tires? I will be driving thru VT and NH - Im sure they need winter tires down there too!
Also - to avoid a rigorous physical simulation - can 4 summer tires fit inside the mustang assuming 1 goes in the trunk and 3 go in the back seat? Has anyone tried this before? (It's an 02).

Mustangs have a back seat? And it's large enough to hold a tire? Mind blown
I'm planning on doing this with my Protege, only with summers next spring. Assuming you don't try to sneak the tires past and they catch you, the worst that could happen is they'll force you to pay taxes on them. It'll still be cheaper, and you'll still get taken care of if you buy from some place like Costco.

I found tires to cost a lot less in the States than in Canada and even from the same outlets (Sam's Club). If you can, drive down on the ones you want to get rid of then switch them there. Maybe pay in cash as to not leave a paper trail.

Have tirerack ship to an installer close to where you'll be.
