Sorry if I'm resurrecting a dead thread. People seem to be posting deals on these drives in numerous different threads so I thought others might find this thread worth contributing to. I've been looking for a fair price on a Wd red 3TB and would have found this link useful a few hours ago as it's the cheapest that I could find: $139.98 at BestBuy.ca.

http://m.bestbuy.ca/?lang=en#/catalog/p ... lang=en-CA

Not bad considering it's free shipping. I ended up price matching at memoryexpress.ca as I had other items to order that were not available at BB.

So my 3TB from 4 years is starting to fail. Getting read errors from my NAS SMART test. (1st RED failed just after the 3 year warranty, now my 2nd RED is failing. I bought 6 REDs 4 years ago. So not very happy about 2/6 failing so far.)

Looks like Dell.ca currently has the best deal for the 4TB RED for $197...anyone know if I can stack coupons on top? Looks like I missed the newegg @ $177 boat :(

If anyone missed the Black Friday deals, this is a bit convoluted but gives you a good price for the WD RED 4TB. Currently going for $199 each
(Dell EPP) + ($15OFF$199+) puts it at $373.43 for two of them before tax
$421.98 after 13% HST
Ebates (10%) = $37.30
Total with tax = $384.68, making it $192.34 each
This puts each drive @ $169 each before tax

The lowest recorded price for this drive was $179.99 (back in Aug 2016)

Edit: if you also have one of those Dell advantage coupons from a while back, it drops the price even more. In addition to the 5% Dell Advantage...it should work out to each drive pre-tax costing $161 which is better than it has ever been

is there any benefit to the Red Pros?
REDs better for NAS/server applications.

Actually, if you order the two separately, you will save an additional $15... because they will each qualify for $15 off, assuming the offer can be used multiple times...

Edit/ And it does, just tried it. And the other thing is that you can (Hopefully) use the e-bates link for a 10% discount... so this should add up to a pretty sweet deal altogether.

Quick look... speed. Red = 5400 RPM, Red Pro = 7200 RPM. Not sure if there is a meaningful impact on a home-based NAS... probably not unless you have a dozen users.
