going to ny next week. any non-touristy suggestions for things to do?

my bf and i are going to ny next week. we'll be gone for a week. just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for non-touristy things to do/eat/see in manhattan, brooklyn, queens, and any of the other boroughs. also, any suggestions for any links that would help us find events to go to?

Timeout is a weekly magazine published in a number of cities worldwide which basically highlights everything there is do in the city for the next week.



You could also check out the Village Voice. This is the largest alternative weekly in the city. I believe it's Toronto counterpart would be Now, although its been a while since I visited Toronto.

There's a huuuuuuge long "Ask me anything about NYC" thread in this forum which should be helpful.

It also would help to know a) if you've been to NYC before, and b) what of things you like doing here at home. We don't know you or your tastes. Other than you presumably enjoy deals.
