It is a good price for a decent TV.
What mall is it at?

Is this a good deal on a 47" widesreen Panasonic Tau TV?
I was at the Dufferin here in Toronto, and there is an electronics store right next to the food court, where EB games and the body shop are located.
Sitting outside brand new shrink wrapped were few widescrren projection TVs. Asking around, i found this deal.
Panasonic Tau CinemaVision PT-47X54
47" Wide-screen Projection Television
Panasonic page here
Orig retail price, around $2000, this week, $1200 all inclusive, plus $20 odd for delivery.
pretty good i think.
Manufacture date of july 2004. So its not too old is it?
Is this better then the 40something being sold at FS/BB during the boxing day sales?Last edited by balou911; Dec 23rd, 2004 at 06:50 PM.

Seems like a good price since Circuit City in the U.S. is selling it for $1399.
Here are some comments from satisfied customers:

Hope this helps.

My friend has one and I think he paid about 3500$ maybe 2-3 years ago. Its a decent TV for sure. Not as good as an RP LCD or DLP but that is a very good price for that TV.

I was there again today checking it out, and i dont like the fact that unless you are 10ft+ away and looking at it dead on, the picture is horrid.
So do i get a 47" screen and sit 10ft+ away or a 30" CRT and sit 6ft away? (where my couch is now.)
FS has a toshiba 30" Widescreen CRT HDTV for $800 during boxing day(s). Save $400 or something.Last edited by balou911; Dec 24th, 2004 at 06:34 PM.

What was the source? Playing DVD (from a p-scan DVD player) or HD should be really good on this set. The first gen models were quite highly regarded as a decent. Check for the archives on AVSForum. I almost bought this set myself when it first came out.
