Hi. I am planning on getting a Laptop, just thought i'd post to see if it was a good deal to get?
So..

At Best Buy there are selling the HP Pavilion DV6 1030ca for 899.99

BUT,

At Staples They are selling the HP Pavilion DV6 1030ca for $849.99

So.. Best Buy will price match that plus 10% off.

The Real cost of BEST BUY price + tax =1016.98

But with price math and 10% it = 864.45

Staples with tax= $959


Also,

Will Besy buy price match plus 10% discount it??

Please tell ASAP!!

Its a decent desktop replacement (I hope thats what intend to buy it for!)

Two things that worry me are vista 64-bit which will have issues with some hardware and second the laptop has only an onboard video card not sure if you need anything better depends on what you use it for again.

Hey.. I am getting for a desktop replacement.. Not sure about video card, but I am only gonna use it for everyday computing.. ie.. playing music, homework, watch movies, photoshop.. and so on

i would recommend getting some sort of small tower desktop then probably get better specs for the same cost. As for video card i would look for something better as you mentioned you will do some photoshop stuff

To price match, you need to bring an ad or a printout from Staples. BB will then either match your price on the spot or find an excuse to not match the price (with such a small difference they will most likely just match). This depends on the person you talk to.

Also all prices are before tax so you got to add tax to Staples price too. Regardless based on the PM, you will be charged ~845 + tax if BB accepts the PM (i.e. $5 difference).

The deal itself i guess is average. Its not hot nor cold (although for me, its super cold since i don't like HP but thats just me). There was an error on Dell's site earlier today which was hotter (if they honor it) but thats history. That said, you can still probably find better deals by going to Staples and looking at their clearance board (depending on your luck, you might need to goto a few Staples to find a good deal).
