Good place to do a birthday downtown saturday?
Anyone have any suggestions for a place to do a birthday on saturday? Looking for a "lounge" type place...
My criteria is somewhere that plays top 40 ish music (hip hop/r&b), mid 20's crowd (mixed), and casual or strict dress code..
What I don't want is somewhere where there will be a lineup. Last year I ended up picking a place that was supposed to be hype on Saturdays but of course the lineup was huge, and I didn't want to wait in a line on my birthday, so we ended up going to some random place. I had to call everyone to change plans and it was a big mess....
So I was thinking somewhere like Up Lounge (adelaide & john) or Silk Lounge (duncan and richmond)... any suggestions/opinions?

try Wayne Gretzky's bar.. at the back of the bar, they have a lounge area that is sectioned off by curtains, it's free to book, but you just have to call to reserve it... its absolutely perfect for a group of 10-25 ppl.. they have club chairs, couches, 3 tvs, small tables, its really great.. and quite upscale decor. the great part about it is that you dont have to pay for booking it.. ur just paying for food/drinks

if you have a bunch of people, why not get on guestlist by calling ahead and saying it's your birthday? My friend once did that and we got into Joe by the backdoor

Down One is really nice, Ivan, the owner is really cool. He'll make it nice for you. They got drinks and snacks at a very reasonable price. I seen a lot of B.days and coporate parites being thrown there. It's a cosy place for such an event.

Went to Down One this Saturday. It was pretty nice, mixed crowd.
Music was not much hiphop, a bit of top 40 and reggae towards the end...and some old school stuff.
