Good place to learn about lighting?

I've been doing photography for a couple of years now casually and have found my skills extremely lacking in the lighting department. I've read up on books, gone to Henry's lighting class (useless), done a class at Ryerson (useless), and Seneca (useless). I'm interested in how to use lighting setups and what you can do with off camera flashes and ambient light. My favourite photographer is Leibovitz, so I hope that gives a little better idea of the style I'm aiming for. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to learn lighting the proper way with some hands on training? Thanks!

Thanks, I know of the site, but I'm looking for an actual place and not online. And I'm also looking for hands on training if possible.
On Meetup.com i know there's a strobist group in toronto

I will go there to try it? My choice is hands on training.
