good use of avios

Not sure if it's the right place to ask this question.
Any suggestions on good use of avios?
Avios: 150k
Amex MR: 230k
I used 130k avios to Asia on Jal before, now it's 180K? Japan 150k. No seats on CX flights.
TIA!

Yes, they have had the option for hotel bookings for quite a while now. With respect to the cost, yes the number of points required has gone up, but I still think they are good value for short-haul travel in North America. I travelled to NYC once and only paid $28 in taxes vs. $100+ for the same thing with Aeroplan. It has been a while since the last one, but if there is a promo on, you can convert the MR to Avios at 1:1.25.

You can still get some great value traveling around Asia, and there's some good NA routes too.

1) YVR to JFK in Cathay
2) SEA or BLI to Hawaii in Alaska
3) SEA or BLI to Vegas in Alaska

And Cathay flights still exist to Asia, just have to search last minute these days, about 2 weeks out.

There's a 1 to 1.25 transfer promo from amexMR to avios.
I'm struggling to determine if this would be more worth it than transfer to aeroplan?
My main airport is Yul. Are there any advantages to getting avios?

You can get some good deals if you swap over the points to Iberia's flight program.
The fees are a lot smaller but it really depends where you fly out of. If you're in Europe often it it might be worthwhile to look into.
I'm looking for a NZ Silver Fern Kiwi coin! :)
