Horrible design on the 3XL, massive notch and a chin. I am more interested in Pixel 3 but won't be upgrading anyway from my 2XL.

Hanging on to my Pixel 2 XL for one more year...camera is my main driver to switch phones and it's holding up fine.

I thought the "chin" was required due to a patent that Apple holds on the screen design? Or, am I confusing it with something else?

Nothing exciting at all. iPhone XX and XXX is going to blow them away and they just hit 200 per share.

Why would they have a notch that deep as well as a super big chin? C'mon Google

Google can be leaders in the industry and sell the 3XL for $2000 in Canada off contract.

Genuinely curious - why do people get so offended by notches?

People like uniformity and notches break that up simply to recover a bit of space for front facing cameras/sensors. To me it looks silly and makes app design/use more cumbersome but I could live with it if the screen to body ratio is elsewhere improved or the overall design is good. In the case of the Pixel XL 3 it seems a bit odd to have both a notch and such a large chin, frankly its a bit of an ugly duckling. Sure its just a phone but my car is just a car and I don't want to drive something I don't like either.

Those and other reasons I'm probably forgetting.

What is the best time to buy a new Pixel through Rogers? I seem to remember last year that they had some sale on the newly released Pixel 2 models around Thanksgiving / Christmas? Is that common?

I will need a new phone this fall and am likely to get the Pixel 3, but I don't necessarily need it on release day. I wouldn't want to wait much into 2019, though.

Impossible to say. I don't think the Pixel 2/2 XL had the best sales (lots of initial hardware complaints, people annoyed with blue shift, etc) so that's why Black Friday/Christmas sales. If the Pixel 3 gets a strong reception and strong initial sales, it might not see any Black Friday/Christmas sales (or if it does, they may be minimal). But yeah, if you can hold out? Always makes sense to wait for a deal.
