So it's just a controller and Chromecast for $170?

Seriously though ... they really think they are going to sell a Chromecast and a controller for $400?

They'll probably be giving these things "FREE" with the purchase of a Nest device by Xmas at Best Buy.

I agree. Google doesn't care much about making money off their hardware

Is their own controller even required and can we not use existing controllers? Lots of vague information floating around right now about how this service actually works and what's required to use it.

That said if this can really handle cutting edge graphically intense games like AC Odyssey and Metro Exodus at 4K/60fps with a low cost of entry, that's something worth paying attention to imo

If you are not going to be paying for Stadia Pro, than the controller is of no use to you. $10USD per month subscription is probably going to be about $13 CAD + same for buddy pass. Means you are getting 13 * 2 * 3 = $78 worth of services.

The controller is only required if you are going to be playing on TV.

You can use other controllers.

The Stadia controller connects more directly to the service via Wi-Fi, so in theory it could have less latency than, say. . . Controller -> Streaming device -> Stadia server.

Great thanks for the clarification. I would just wait to give it a try on my PC with my controller of choice and see how well the games actually run before I consider purchasing their hardware.

Coming in November, given Google track record, that's still a number of months they have to drop the project hahaha......
