$169 isn't that bad, considering a chromecast ultra costs $90 on its own.

I would pay $169 if it was available now, but I hate paying for something then waiting months for it to be available. Will re-evaluate my options when it's released in November. Also gotta get a 4k TV, I'm still rocking a 1080p 40" I bought 9 years ago.

I don't know if the 125$ 40" 4K TV is still up at Maxi?

So Google launches their own Geforce Now and people get excited.
This thing will flop quickly imo. There's no mention of the kind of internet speed required to use it decently.
It was covered in the announcement and it is also listed on the product page...

Given Google's history of killing products, I'd be hesitant to pay for this. If they shut down their service, all your "purchased" games are lost forever.
This is one of my greatest reasons. But also monthly subscription + game purchasing... It's worth it in the short term but over 2 years it will be more costly than a day 1 console.

So Google says that a 30-35Mbps connection will be able to handle 4K/HDR/5.1 streaming. Yeah right. I'll believe it when I see it.
I was skeptical as well, but I actually believe this now. Watching an HDR movie on my 4k BluRay Player, display info shows data is fluctuating between 30-40Mbps. Granted, I do see data rates spike to 80ish... but the average does look to be 30-40Mbps. Google might be doing some image compression as well just as they do in Google Photos (unless you pay or have a Pixel phone).

Hello guys,

So google announced his cloud gaming called stadia few weeks ago.
It is now possible to pre-order some sort of "starter kit":

it include:
a chromecast Utlra (90$)
A stadia controller (85$)
3 month of stadia premium (12/month so 36$~)
invitation for a friend to try it 3 month too. (36$more)

this package is sold for 169$ (instead of 247$ for the full package) so "saving" few bucks.

Stadia should start in November.
Google say you could have a 4k/60fps quality with a 35Mbits connection speed (why not) no ided about input lag ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Can be an okay deal I guess if you want experience some gaming without buying an high end PC.

There is indeed a strong debate between Hardcore gamer that want a giant glowing RGB monster at home vs cloud gaming.

I don't mind both, but as now casual gamer if input lag if fine I may get rid of my current set up for good.

That's expect. This isn't geared towards console gamers imo.
It's geared towards the former console gamers and casual gamers like myself.

In any case I think it will fail, the subscription price is to high.

I might get it only because I'll be receiving 150$ credit for my wife's Pixel 3A

So....how about deleting your thread then??
Well other casual gamer could be interested to know about it.

I couldn't care less whether people like it or not.
