I got the invite within a few weeks, and I'm using Google Voice now, but technically it's not available in Canada yet. I signed up via U.S. VPN to bypass the country check, and gave a U.S. VoIP number as the home number to pass the phone verification check. The VoIP number forwards to my home phone here in Canada, or I redirect it to my U.S. cell phone when I'm traveling in the U.S..

From all that I've seen it's perfectly usable in the 403 area code actually.

There's a ?RFD thread somewhere you can use it with 403 (Alberta) or a U.S. number (I forget the method of obtaining it), then use 3GUnrestrictor on a jailbroken iPhone and make Canada/U.S. calls at a substantially reduced rate using your data plan, plus all the benefits of GV. The only catch is people have to call your 403/U.S. number to reach you.

You're now able to forward your Google Voice number to your Canada phone number by register a 403 phone number at www.freephoneline.ca , then forward it to your phone number

freephoneline allows to call free in most of the major Canada city
http://www.freephoneline.ca/ldServices
Google Voice allows to call North America free ==> big difference
US people can call your Google Voice free long distance and it will forward to your Canada phone number...
You can log in to your Google Voice account, enter any North America phone number you want to call for free... or you can create a Google Voice call widgets too...
There're other methods to use Google Voice to call without login into the Google Voice account, like GVDialer, Sipsorcery + Gizmo5 + Google Voice... sometime works sometime don't...Call Widgets can be put on any web page, and allow people to call from that web page. When somebody clicks on the widget, we call them and connect them to you. Your number is always kept private. You can create multiple call widgets and have different settings for each of them.
