Grade 12 Student: ?UNIVERSITY?

So i am starting grade 12 after the summer break and my 6 courses are:

English
Calculus
Advanced Functions
Biology
Chemistry
Physics

I am keeping all my options open but the problem is I do not know what I want to go into :S

Let's say I want to become something where I only need Bio and Chem to get into, is there a difference in having (English
Calculus, Advanced Functions, Biology, Chemistry, Physics) versus (Bio, Chem, Photography, Visual Arts, Auto, Gym, Workout, Enlgish)

The 2nd group would give me a higher average but they are all easy courses as compared to the hard first group.

I need ideas of what I can study in Uni

Any pointers or comments or clarifications for a scared noob!

They need to be grade 12 UNIVERSITY credits to be usable for your application...

Photography, Visual Arts, Auto, Gym, Workout all will not be counted. At best, you're going off to college with those classes.

If you want fluff courses, go for philosophy and law instead: they are U.

I would also suggest looking at a few different programs you may be interested in and taking a look at their grade 12 HS course requirements. IIIRC, engineering has the least flex in your grade 12 course choices. You should only be taking 1 maybe 2 courses which are easy and will boost your mark (for engineering I had to take their 5 required courses and then they took your next best mark to determine your 6 courses for admission).

If you can handle all those science courses...

These course won't go wrong when you get into University (especially if you're going into science)

- Biol
- Phys
- Chem
- Eng
- Calc

I also recommend you look at the program and see what is required to get into specific faculty. But if you are lazy to check things out and are a smart A student, then just take the above courses. There is also some AP courses (advance courses) that you can take in highschool which is equivalent to some first year University courses. You may want to take a look at that too if you're really smart.

Otherwise, check the University program and aim to meet one or two specific faculty

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I have a similar question. If i plan to apply for social science programs in university, does it matter if i don't take any science (bio, chem, physics etc.)? Science is not my forte... and i have about a 85%+ average if i don't calculate my math or science marks, and judging from the requirements for most social science programs, i just need to take English U.

Is it safe to assume most social science and english programs are flexible?

Yeah, you don't need any Sciences -- you might not need Math either. But some of my friends who are going into Sociology took Data, because you take a Statistics course in University.
