Grand Opening of oriental supermarket in Scarborough

okay, i've done a search for this and nothing comes up.

So, i find this a hot deal for groceries=)
I went shopping at this oriental supermarket located at Alton Towers, where Taiko used to be. Main intersection is Steeles and McCowan.

The following was what i found to be EXTREMELY HOT:
19cents/ lb for siu choy a.k.a chinese cabbage
19 cents/ lb for green, red and yellow peppers
Naval orange 39cents/ lb
Cantaloupe 2 for 2 dollars
Kiwi 3 for a dollar
Fuji [rfdlink=18]apple[/rfdlink] 69cents/lb
Garlic 5packs for a dollar (three in one pack)
Chicken Leg 99 cents/lb
Tomatoes 59cents/lb
Tangerine 19cents/ lb
Asian Pears (Brown Ones) 2 for 2 dollars
Strawberries 2 boxes for 2 dollars (1 box= 454g)
Cauliflower 3 for 2 dollars
Cabbage 99 cents each
Shanghai choy 29cents/lb
Green onion 3 batches for a dollar
plain parsley 99 cents each
grape tomatoes 3 boxes for 2 dollars (1 box= 340g)
Lettuce 99 cents
cucumber 79 cents each
green grapes 59cents/lb
big red grapes 99 cents/lb
BANANAS 29cents /lb HOTTTTTTT
Croissants for 2.50
Wonder whole wheat and white bread 3 for 5 dollars.

I've been to many Asian supermarkets, i find this one very clean and cheap.
However, Oriental only has some good prices on SOME THINGS.. ..
the rest is expensive =)

Oriental mart has always been popular at the one on Denison (Fortinos), that's why they open another one close by to fight against T&T.

Went a few days ago, prices are pretty sweet on some items.
Just to add to the thread, purchases over $20 gets a free box of nissan instant ramen while quantities last. (they are near expiry, that's why)

Several kind of 750g bucket Astro yogurt priced at $1.88 each which is $2.97 at Nofrills. It's not the item close to expiration date to clear out, the expire date is one month later when I bought it.

Cause it's new, we all know that will go down hill. It's hard to trust the food in these stores now a days anyway. You never know if the ingredients translated on the side is true or not.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!!

I mostly buy spices, vegies and fruits from asian supermarkets.
The meat sometimes can be iffy compared to other supermarkets like no Frills but, if the price is right, i will buy.
Haven't had any issues yet (knock on wood).

Back to the post, good find op

True, the fruits and veggies are often the best at asian supermarkets with a superior variety.

Sorry to get off topic, just think we should expect a higher standard wether it be an asian food store or no frills etc. I'm anal about hygiene and a lot of it can be sub par when it doesn't need to be. :)

"Oriental" is a term I rarely hear these days. They are usually called Asian Supermarkets or Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, etc.
Have a nice day!

I find this place stinks -- meats and seafood! I am pretty tolerant of the Asian supermarket smells but this one gets to me. The place is pulling people away from TnT which is okay as the lineups are now shorter at TnT.
