To ask if you need an upgrade is a very obscure question to answer to. Like that person said, if you need an upgrade, then upgrade. If it's still serving your needs, then obviously the answer is straight forward. If you're trying to sell for the sake of getting maximum return for your old card, I don't think that is a good strategy at all because you will always lose out more than you get back with upgrades.
