Graphics for Vista
Hey,
I'm currently in the market for a laptop and I'd like to know the difference between these 2 video cards.
Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950
256MB ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X1400 HyperMemory™
I would like to know, what is the difference between the cards and what is better for the Vista Aero experience?
Will the intel be more than sufficient or am I better off going with the other one?
The intel site says that the GMA 950 is Up to 224 MB maximum video memory. What does this mean?
http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/gma950/
Thanks.

Thanks.
The Intel graphics adapter borrows (shares) system RAM.
The ATI graphics adapter has dedicated memory and won't use the system RAM.
I'd say go with the ATI device.

I understand that the ATI is better but is the intel sufficient for my purpose? I just want to use all of the Vista features with no issues.

for Aero, I would get a dedicated card such as the ATI.
Otherwise, for normal Vista without any effects, Intel one is sufficient.

I strongly suggest everyone take a 'wait-and-see' approach to Vista.
I remember lots of people who had all kinds of hardware issues with XP.
I'm sure it'll be no different with Vista.
