I live in London Ontario and the weather as of late has been decent. I've raked, power-raked, rolled, aerated, seeded, and fertilized my lawn in the past 2 weeks and so far and it looks fine. In past seasons i normally mulch and allow the grass to grow 3 inches or so but it is currently 2 inches. Neighbors appear to keep their grass at about 1 inch or less.

What confuses me is why up close my lawn still has yellow grass blades amongst the green....

I'm not fully sure but i believe my grass is made up of Kentuky Bluegrass and Fine Fescue. Perhaps you can confirm this from the photos? Anyway, neighbors with their extremely low cut lawns appear to have 100% green whereas mine upclose is intermixed with yellow blades. I'm confident if i were to cut my grass to the 1 inch norm in the area the lawn would appear mostly yellow.

Anything i'm doing wrong? Perhaps its better to cut low rather than high to get an even green at all depths across the lawn? Again i have already raked and power-raked the lawn. And i do water it when it isnt raining.

Thanks for any tips.
