The Angus label has been watered down in the U.S. It is now 2/3 of USDA Choice, used to be the top 1/3, and has to come from a cow that is half black.

So much for Hero Burgers claim they can trace their Angus beef to the actual farm it was raised on, unless the "Farm" is actually Establishment 761. What a crock of BS.

i don't know if that's a false claim. they use some fluffy words, but the beef can be traced back to the farm, from the factory.

I returned some PC mini sliders to No Frills today for full refund. They have Lick's burgers for sale this week and have a notice posted from Lick's saying their burgers aren't part of the recall as they use a different manufacturer. So if you have any, check the establishment number. If it isn't 761, you're ok. I have some buried in my freezer so I won't bother digging them out.

Here is the Lick's statement:

Yeah, steak is generally fine. The problem with ground beef and all the product recalls is from the fact that meat producers mix something called "pink slime" into their ground beef. Pink slime is beef trimmings, scraps, hide, etc that's passed through a centrifuge to help separate the fat and impurities, and than ammonia is added to help ensure the product is "safe" for consumption. The use/addition of beef hide is the main issue here as it's literally covered in crap, hence the need for ammonia.

Anthony Bourdain did a book called Medium Raw (you can find this online)*, which has a chapter discussing his distaste for meat producer/distributor Cargill using pink slime in their ground beef. Resulting in all those e. coli outbreaks and product recalls, making most commercial ground beef unsafe to eat.

where is your source to claim that this recall was caused by 'pink slime'?

Not in this country, and no mention of "hide" in the beef.
