Groupon Oil Change (Toronto)

It's come time for me to do an oil change. Everywhere I look, prices are $40 - $50 for a conventional oil change incl. regular filter. I've found deals on Groupon worth $20 and I'm simply wondering how these work. Say I buy this: https://www.groupon.com/deals/auto-technique-1 Once I've paid for it online, what are my next steps in getting the oil change done? Do I get a coupon in the mail saying to change my oil for $20? Do I just go into the shop and say I've paid Groupon $20? Never done this before so I'm not sure how it works.

I did a similar one but with one of the chain oil change centres. With that I received a printable coupon via email, presented it at the time of the oil change and got the job done.

I have not done this because I do my own oil change but I just want to remind you to read the fine print because it seems you have to pay extra if your car requires more than 4L of oil.

You will also need to pay for disposal fees. I normally bring the old oil and filter to the nearest Canadian Tire.

What do they use? Burnt canola oil from McDs?

You don't do your own oil changes?

Are you sure you're legally defined as a male?

How much would disposal fees be, roughly? A couple of dollars?

I wouldn't trust these groupon deals with car service. Once they see you with a groupon coupon you can't guarantee where they're going to cut corners to recoup those $$.

That's a thought I also had but there are many good reviews on Groupon for this car shop

I've purchased a Groupon oil change before but not from Auto Technique. Brought my own oil filter but used the oil they provided. Asked them that it was the correct weight (which was 10W30 or 5W30) and was in and out within half an hour or so.

Honestly I'd rather just source the oil and oil filter myself then pay $10 labour to get it done. I know a shop in Markham charges around $25 labour to do it. Bit on the pricey side but I got spoiled by the $10 labour. Even then, $25 for labour is still very reasonable in my opinion.

I'd kill for $25 labour. My shop charges me half an hour which is $55 plus tax
